That said, creating a full tileset in a different style is a lot of work - one of the professional artist here on the board, Celianna, once calculated that she would have to work about one year or one and a half year fulltime on such a set to get everything for a game (multiple environments etc), and that she would have to charge 30+K $ for it to be able to feed herself and pay rent during that worktime (because she wouldn't have time for any other work while doing this). The better solution is to describe the aspect or game mechanic or whatever you want to simulate from it - exactly like you pointed out with the tilesets.
